Job Opportunities with USAID Saving Species Project
Tetra Tech, through its subsidiary Tetra Tech ARD (http://www.tetratechintdev.com/), a US-based international development firm is implementing the USAID Saving Species Project. USAID Saving Species will work to reduce consumer demand for and consumption of illegal wildlife and wildlife products, strengthening wildlife law enforcement and prosecution, and improving and harmonizing the legal framework for wildlife crime. Tetra Tech is advertising for the Communications/Public Outreach Specialist position to be based for the Hanoi Office. All applicants should be Vietnamese citizens. JOB SUMMARY:
Working under the overall direction of the Chief of Party and in coordination with the Program Management Team, the Communications Specialist is responsible for leading the overall implementation, and evaluation of the Saving Species communications and outreach strategy and plan. This includes the development and oversight of all Project-related communications and outreach content and materials. The Specialist will be central to ensuring that all project communications are implemented consistently and correctly according to USAID branding guidelines.
The full-time Communications Specialist will be responsible for the development, management, continuous improvement and expansion of the marketing and communications functions of the Saving Species project. The specialist will also be responsible for integrating our partner organizations activities into project communications outputs, as necessary.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
The Communications/Public Outreach Specialist is responsible for the following:

Develop, update and implement the Project’s comprehensive communications strategy and behavior change campaign;

Development of materials and other media to disseminate information about project successes and lessons learned to the media, project partners and stakeholders, and USAID; Materials may include, but are not limited to, infographics, fact sheets, press releases, beneficiary testimonial and social media content;

Development of success stories for submission to USAID;

Contribution to program reports, especially with development and production of infographics;

Oversee the process of creating a project website, including the hiring of external consultants and the development of content for the site.

Provide technical advice and support to the Chief of Party on communications quality and compliance to USAID branding and marking requirements.

Maintain and build relationships with donor, government agencies, partners, stake holders, mass media

Develop effective networks and partnerships for dissemination of communication products
The Communications/Public Outreach Specialist will:

Provide technical advice and support to ensure that communications and information products are at the highest level of quality and integrity, and will ensure compliance with USAID documentation, information products, and, branding and marking standards.

Lead on the implementation of communication activities including public events, launching events and contributing to regional campaigns as appropriate.

Develop communications products based on evidence provided from partner organizations TRAFFIC and WCS as required.

Build capacity among staff, partners and other stakeholders in the area of project communications. The Specialist will provide the COP with a quarterly progress report of activities and plans for the next quarter, in accordance with the approved work plan.

Contribute to learning and knowledge sharing about USS activities

Be a focal contact point in receiving and responding to queries from government agencies, mass media and public under the guidance of the COP.

Seek and keep COP informed of media coverage of relevant actions, activities and events related to wildlife trafficking.

Coordinate/monitor the work of subcontractors on production of communications products including video, TV and printed materials.

Coordinate with ME Specialist to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of USS communications works

Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Party.
QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)
EDUCATION: |
University degree in communications or related discipline |
WORK EXPERIENCE: |
At least 10 years’ experience related to media development and communications. Experience working with USAID preferred. |
SKILLS: |
Familiarity with or training in Behavior Change Communications strategies. Proven skills in the development and use of infographics and good familiarity with all required software tools. |
LANGUAGES: |
Fluency in written and oral English required |
