Program Officer

Aide et Action International (AEAI) is an international NGO, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.  AEA International began its programs in 1981 and is now working in more than 20 countries across Africa, Europe, South Asia, Southeast Asia and China to support the development of sustainable education projects with our belief in the universal right to a quality education. Each AEAI intervention is based around this ethos.

In Vietnam, AEA started working in 2003. Our approaches focus on early transformation during two time periods which are most critical in a child’s schooling, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) to basic education. Over 10 years of experiences along with local communities, partner organizations, and governments, we have implemented a number of projects in various locations. We are currently recruiting a creative, enthusiastic and innovative candidate to fill the following position.

Position objectives: Timely and effective implementation, monitoring and reporting of program activities relating to education for ethnic minority children in pre and primary schools, in collaboration with partners in Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province.

Key responsibilities :

  • Program Management
    • Manage the overall project narrative and budget planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation on bilingual education and nutrition improvement for ethnic minority children.
    • Coordinate the capacity building for different actors, including pre and primary school teachers and ethnic parents on child-centered methodology and parenting skills.
    • Provide the regular coaching/ mentoring on project management skills for field staffs in Bac Ha, and other relevant technical areas for teachers and parents.
    • Represent Aide et Action to participate in meetings and networking opportunities on the ground when needed.
    • Develop strategic partnership with educational managers on the ground.
    • Participate in identifying potential partners and areas of intervention and contribute to project designing.
    • Develop project reports, capitalization; regular lessons learnt; feedback sessions with the project team.
    • Ensure learning, continuous improvement and technical assistances are integral parts of the program.
    • Any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Fundraising and donor servicing
    • Identify issues in the field that appeals to potential donors
    • Engage in proposal and strategy development
    • Be responsible for regular reporting to donors/sponsors
    • Ensure that field visits conducted by donors/sponsors taken place in a professional way

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years working experience in related fields. Experience in education project is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge and experiences on Early Childhood Care and Education.
  • 2-3 years working experience for INGOs preferred
  • Previous experience in working with schools and department of education is expected
  • Knowledge on educational leadership
  • Experience with program management
  • Good project and time management skills
  • Proven ability to manage, prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and at the same time prove to be a team player

Education degree: A degree in Education, Project Management or other related fields.

Languages: Excellent command of English languages and knowledge of French is an asset.
