Job Title: IC

Location: Based in Quang Nam (Tam Ky)

The Role: We are currently seeking a qualified candidate based in Quang Nam to fill the position of Independent Contractor (IC). The role is responsible for carrying out project activities to bring about the successful completion of specific goals and outcomes of the Samaritan’s Purse Vietnam’s Health and Nutrition Program. The IC will report to the Health Program Manager, but will be overseen by Health Project Coordinator. We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking, and responsible individual to fill this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Traditional Birth Attendants: SPV will be facilitating a six month training program to train ethnic minority women from Nam Tra My District to become Traditional Birth Attendants. Responsibilities include working with partner for successful implementation this training and to support and encourage the TBA’s, who are living away from their family.
  • Safe Motherhood: SPV is currently implementing a Safe Motherhood project in Dong Giang District that involves screening children for malnutrition, community based treatment of malnutrition, monthly communication events on various maternal and child health subjects, and supporting pregnant and lactating women all with the goal to improve maternal and child health and nutrition. Monthly visits will support activities outlined. Additionally support is needed for careful tracking of children with malnutrition.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Report writing; must be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
  • Communicating with Hanoi based Samaritan’s Purse staff
  • Liaising with government partners about project and project activity plans
  • Logistical support for Quang Nam project activities
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant local government partners and community leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree or experience in health, nursing, nutrition, or social work
  • Experience working with ethnic minorities and/or rural communities of central Vietnam strongly preferred
  • Fluency in Vietnamese, intermediate English strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel to remote villages in varying weather conditions to carry out project activities
  • Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills; high level of integrity
  • Strong willingness and passion to see the health of women and children improve through education, training, and participatory learning.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral

This is a contracted position to begin with a three month agreement with potential for renewal.
