Senior Veterinarian
Job title: Senior Veterinarian
Employer: Animals Asia Foundation and Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Center
Full-time post: 5 days/week
Location: Soc Son, Hanoi, Vietnam
Salary: US$800 - 1000 gross per month
Duration of Position: Six month contract (renewed annually)
Direct report: Animal Welfare Advisor (Animals Asia) and Director of the Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Center
Primary objective: To train and improve the skills of the resident veterinarian at the Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Center
Secondary Objectives:
- Provide veterinary treatment and support for the confiscated animals coming into and residing in the Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Center.
- To aid with veterinary support on other Animals Asia projects in Vietnam
Key responsibilities
- Veterinary Medicine
- To work with the veterinarian at the Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Center in diagnosis and treatment of the animals in the center.
- To provide treatment for sick and injured animals that enter the center from the wildlife trade.
- To make treatment plans
- Carry out surgeries and other treatments on animals as required.
- To maintain the vet clinic is in good working order.
- Manifesting animal welfare in the process of work, according to the requirements of the Veterinary Law.
Additional responsibilities
- Maintain positive working relationships with programme partners and government agencies.
- Provide animal management support to facilities within Asia under the guidance of Animals Asia and our international partner organisations
Animal welfare department programme support
- Support AW manager and AW advisor in managing programmes to improve welfare
- Support AW department manager to develop and maintain relationships with programme partners and government agencies.
Administration
- Contribute activities to the departmental working report
- Provide program background and working progress under request from other colleagues;
Inter-department relations
- Support requests from other departments
- Ensure that inter-department and inter-personal relationships are positive, cohesive, and contribute to the overall mission of Animals Asia
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships regarding work procedures, employee relations and procurement related concerns
- Collaborate with fundraising and communication departments to promote animal welfare campaigns and events through internal and external media
Continuous improvement
- Contribute to the on-going review, development and implementation of changes to improve the productivity and efficiency of Animals Asia
- Participate in staff training and performance and development appraisal process to assist in the achievement of Animals Asia objectives and mission
Miscellaneous
- Follow established Animals Asia procedures and policies
