Background

FHI 360 is a non-profit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. Our staff includes experts in health, education, nutrition, environment, economic development, civil society, gender, youth, research and technology; creating a unique mix of capabilities to address today's interrelated development challenges. FHI 360 serves more than 60 countries, all 50 U.S. states and all U.S. territories. We are seeking qualified individuals to be part of a small team in support of the Ministry of Health and various provincial Departments of Health in support of quality COVID-19 treatment and complementary support to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.

EpiC:

Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is a five-year, global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). EpiC Vietnam’s goal is to deliver efficient, affordable, results-based technical assistance and direct services in HIV and COVID-19.

Scope of Work

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical technical assistance to provinces at risk of or experiencing COVID-19 surges, with an expected geographic reach of four to six provinces. The selected candidate will be expected to provide full-time support during critical periods. EpiC is currently funded to support COVID-19 work for the next thirteen months. The ideal candidate would be available to provide full or part-time support in these areas (scoped under additional contracts as needed). This support will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Complete assessments of infection prevention and control efforts and COVID-specific ICU capacity at designated sites, including documenting current needs and tracking improvements

  • Provide clinical coaching to frontline health workers to improve IPC and clinical care, especially for patients in health care levels 3-5

  • Develop standardized but clear tools and job aides to support clinical care and address common issues in COVID-19 service delivery

  • Improve respiratory care by adapting and leading trainings on clinical assessment and triage, age-appropriate supplemental oxygen, and understanding the implications of oxygen delivery.

  • Collaborate with procurement to support sites to forecast supply needs and strengthen supply chain management and reporting as relevant

Qualifications:

  • Medical doctor with at least 10 years’ experience providing clinical support for infectious diseases

  • Experience working with provincial health authorities to address major health challenges

  • Fluency in Vietnamese, conversational English
