ENDGAME Project Coordinator, Viet Nam

Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU), based in Bangkok, Thailand, is looking for a Project Coordinator for a project aiming to provide support with cutting-edge predictive modelling and data analysis to National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs) across the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam.
The successful candidate will be based in Hanoi working with staff from MORU Epidemiology Department in Bangkok and be the main point of contact for collaboration with the National Institute of Malaria, Parasitology, and Entomology (NIMPE) for this project. They will also work closely with an experienced MORU modelling team based in the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
The duties of the role will be to facilitate communication between project staff and NIMPE and help to provide technical support and training to NIMPE staff for implementation and development of predictive models and analyses to inform planning of malaria elimination strategy in Viet Nam. The role will include helping to review and update priority policy questions that we are addressing with the project and collation of new data required to run the analyses, as well as assisting with the analyses themselves. The successful candidate will assist the PI with communication with country partners and liaison with other parts of the Viet Nam government. Travel restrictions permitting, there will be opportunities to travel to MORU in Bangkok. In addition, they will contribute to preparation of research manuscripts. They will be supported to pursue their own scientific interests related to the project and to seek their own additional funding.
Essential
- BSc, MSc or equivalent
- Prior experience of working on either malaria or health policy in Viet Nam
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Desirable
- Proven track record of published papers
- Knowledge of mathematical modelling and/or statistical analysis
- Programming skills in R and/or Python
