Background

FHI 360 is an international non-governmental organization working in over 60 countries, In Vietnam, FHI 360 promotes the health and well-being of the Vietnamese people, particularly vulnerable and marginalized populations. It works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health and other national bodies, as well as provincial and district-level health services to achieve project aims. FHI 360 is currently implementing programs to address HIV prevention, testing, and treatment; combatting trafficking in persons; tuberculosis case finding and treatment; clinical research; anti-microbial resistance; health system strengthening; non-communicable diseases; maternal and child health and nutrition; and diagnostic and laboratory services.

USAID Support to End TB Project: is a five-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project’s goal is to support the Government of Vietnam to successfully detect, treat and prevent TB at all levels of the health system to ensure patients receive high quality, decentralized care without suffering catastrophic costs.

We are currently seeking a qualified, experienced, and highly motivated Vietnamese candidate for the position of Social and Behavior Change Communications (SBCC) Consultant for the project.

Scope of Work

The SBCC Consultant would be available to provide full or part-time support in these areas (scoped under additional contracts as needed). This support will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Guide the strategy and implementation of social and behavior change for different key audiences on priority tuberculosis (TB) activities, including but not limited to 1) TB testing, diagnosis, treatment and retention (2) using social health insurance reimbursement for TB care and 3) latent TB infection testing and treatment.
  • Provide technical inputs in design, development, execution and evaluation of SBCC capacity strengthening activities aligned with the project’s technical components and workplan.
  • Develop tools for designing and implementing specific SBCC activities in line with the project’s technical components and workplan.
  • Review, analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of SBCC activities and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure that SBCC strategies and implementation align with technical standards/best practices.
  • Provide technical input in communication products to ensure those are aligned with the SBCC strategy.
  • Provide SBCC technical inputs in required reports, workplan, and other related documentation.
  • Support other communications and SBCC activities as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in providing technical assistance to SBC projects and/or programs, preferably in the health sector or related development areas.
  • Fluent in behavior change theory and approaches, including human-centred design.
  • Intensive professional experience in designing, implementing, and leading social and behavior change campaigns and activities using innovative and technology-based approaches for behavior change.
  • Understanding of SBCC strategies, methods and tools ideally applied in Vietnam.
  • Strong understanding and experience of the Vietnam SBCC context are required.
  • Understanding tuberculosis and health issues is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with USAID or other donor-funded programming preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume workflow.
