Wildlife Policy Officer

 

Major Functions:

Reporting to the Saving Threatened Wildlife project’s Chief of Party (COP), the Wildlife Policy Officer is responsible for supporting the project Technical Leads with policy engagement and advocacy related to the priorities of the project in 1) knowledge management, policy development and advocacy work, 2) advising and contributing to policy and advocacy efforts that support the Government of Vietnam to meet its global agreements, 3) helping to strengthen or develop existing regulations related to the trade in wildlife in Vietnam and 4) enabling the Government of Vietnam to take a leadership position in preventing illegal wildlife trade regionally and internationally.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or preferably Master’s degree in public policy, environmental policy, natural resources management, environmental law, international development or related field;
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in area(s) related to the above-mentioned area(s);
  • Experience and knowledge of the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora (CITES), the Conservation Biodiversity Framework (CBD) and wildlife management frameworks;
  • Good analytical skills, and the ability to work with global WWF staff, technical and scientific teams, and other external partners;
  • Strong skills in national and international teamwork and demonstrated ability to work in a devolved team situation;
  • Identifies and aligns with the core values of the WWF organization: Courage, Collaboration,  Respect & Integrity;
  • Demonstrates WWF behaviors in ways of working: strive for impact, listen deeply, collaborate openly and innovate fearlessly;
