Workshop on Climate Change Policies to foster the implementation of the commitments at COP26

 

CCWG in partnership with Institute of Hydrology and Meteorology Science and Climate Change (IMHEN) and the support from Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Viet Nam is organizing a national workshop to share the key updates and potential strategic contribution of VUSTA, CCWG to support the implementation the country climate goals at COP26 and beyond.

The Post-COP workshop aims to share with VUSTA members, CCWG’s members and stakeholders updates of relevant policies after COP26 such as the National Climate Change Strategy (NCCS), NDCISP and National Adaptation Plan (NAP)  as well as to discuss the potential strategic contribution of the members of VUSTA, CCWG to support the implementation period.  

 

Objective of the workshop

 

The overall objective of the national workshop is:

‘To provide a forum for key stakeholders from the Government of Viet Nam, CSOs, academia and the private sector to jointly discuss and identify the key expectations/requirements for Gov and CSOs, partners to ensure the effective CC policies and programs development and implementation period’. 

 

Specific objectives: 

• Update the on going process and coming plan from Gov on reviewing and updating climate change policies and programs, 

• Discuss the existing and the emerging gaps in policies development and implementation to achieve the national updated targets at COP26,

• Discuss the role and potential collaboration of VUSTA, CCWG and partners to support the implementation of Vietnam’s enhanced commitments.

Participants: 20 - 30 delegates on site and 80 delegates via Zoom

  • Expectations from Gov on contributions from VUSTA, CSOs, partners (including challenges and roles of CSOs)

  • Recommendation from VUSTA and members to DCC 
  • Global funding commitments after COP26 and opportunities for CSOs to contribute on CC response in Viet Nam 
  • Upcoming program/project of CCWG members to contribute on NCCS/NDC-ISP/NAP
