EpiC

The Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project is a five-year global project funded by U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). In Vietnam, EpiC focuses on providing quality technical assistance to address challenges associated with trafficking in persons, HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and COVID-19. Among other areas, EpiC Vietnam is seeking to improve the mental health of healthcare providers engaged in HIV, TB, COVID-19 and their clients and other infectious diseases through expanding access to services and other support mechanisms.

Through this Expression of Interest, EpiC is seeking a to expand its network of qualified consultants and partner institutions to meet a variety of project aims.

Proposed Scope of Work

EpiC is in the process of developing several technical assistance packages aimed at improving mental health for healthcare workers and their clients. EpiC will work alongside selected consultant(s) and partner institutions through a variety of interventions with may include but are not limited to: 

Service Delivery

  • Provision of individual and/or group counseling for healthcare workers (virtual or in-person)
  • Provision of individual and/or group counseling for clients with HIV, at risk of HIV, with COVID, with TB, or suffering from post-COVID syndrome (virtual or in-person)
  • Provision of workshops focused on building self-care strategies and skills and/or resiliency

Tool and Job Aides

  • Development or adaptation of basic mental health screening tools to meet program beneficiary needs
  • Development of algorithms to support referrals to appropriate follow-up services
  • Research and development of referral resources

Training Development

  • Development of training to capacitate frontline healthcare workers to successful complete basic mental health care screening
  • Development of training of trainer curriculum to expand basic screening capabilities
  • Development of trainings for healthcare administrators to create work environments that promote the mental health of providers and clients
  • Facilitation of trainings (any of the above)

EpiC is open to funding individuals and organizations to expand on their existing curriculum or trainings in these areas or to co-develop new trainings. Individuals and organizations that have specific expertise in some of these areas, but not all, are encouraged to apply and describe their capabilities in detail in their letter of interest.

Proposed Deliverables

This support will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Design of course syllabus in collaboration with EpiC
  • Development or adaptation of training modules (from the list above) and tools/ that supplement training content and support long-term use of training concepts to align with global guidance, organizational best practices, and EpiC feedback
  • Job aides including algorithms, referral resources, and screening tools
  • Determination of appropriate modalities for delivering content
  • Facilitation or co-facilitation of training modules
  • Post-training mentoring 

Qualifications

Required

  • Professional qualifications and education related to mental health including psychology, psychiatry, and social work
  • Proven capacity and resources to assure timely and quality deliverables
  • Fluency in Vietnamese

Recommended based on proposed support activities

  • Experience developing training curricula, facilitating training related to mental health
  • Experience providing mental health counseling services (individual and group)
  • Understanding of the needs of public sector healthcare workers in Vietnam
  • Experience serving traditionally marginalized communities including men-who-have-sex with men, the disabled, people who inject drugs, transgender persons, sex workers, etc.

Desirable

  • Association with academic institution, professional counseling firm, or other relevant entity
  • Experience supporting international donors
  • Professional capacity in English

This expression of interest is an initial stage in our planned procurement process. Interested candidates should send a brief letter summarizing interests aligned with scope of work within this EOI or related areas and a CV or organizational profile to [email protected] by no later than COB April 10, 2022.

EpiC will then work with entities and individuals to determine specific scopes of work.
