As a federal enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. On behalf of the German Government, GIZ currently provides advisory services to the Government of Viet Nam in three priority areas: Vocational training, Environmental policy and sustainable use of natural resources, and Energy. GIZ Vietnam has targeted energy as a priority area, which is being handled by the Energy Support Programme. With the Ministry of Industry and Trade and further political partners we are working on developing renewable energy and energy efficiency markets and support the Vietnamese just energy transition.

Currently the Energy Support Programme is adding a new technology to its portfolio; Agrivoltaics aims at combining solar photovoltaics (PV) and agriculture. This dual land use concept aims at freeing new space for PV systems, shading and protecting crops when needed, and supplying a significant income increase for famers.

We are looking for a qualified local professional to support in our new agrivoltaics team.

Project Officer “Agrivoltaics”
Duty station: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Duration: 2 years contract, starting from August 2022

Main responsibilities:

• Cooperating with a broad range of stakeholders incl. the private sector, the government, and NGOs
• The creation of a new solar market segment in Vietnam
• The Vietnamese and international Energy Transition
• Work around the 4 project pillars: Technology & Innovation, Policy & Regulations, Training, Public Awareness
• Prepare, implement, and manage activities such as studies, pilot projects, digital products & workshops
• Liaise and coordinate with political partners, donor organizations and private companies
• Conduct research on agrivoltaics in either of the areas of energy policy, agriculture, and/or business models

Minimum requirements:

• University degree (MSc, BSc.), in energy, engineering, renewable energy economics, business administration, agriculture economics or comparable studies
• Proven expertise in one or more of the following sectors: renewable energy, agriculture, business, or politics
• Excellent networking skills, good research, data collection and analytical skills
• Strong organizational competence, administrative and event organization experience is a plus
• A good team player who is willing to take on responsibility and work independently
• Highly motivated to work in a multicultural environment
• Willingness to travel abroad and to project sites across the country
• Vietnamese nationality
• Excellent skills in English and Vietnamese
