About us

Effective altruism is a philosophy and community focused on maximising the good that we can do through our career, projects, and donations.

Effective Altruism Singapore (EA SG) is a local chapter and part of the global movement.

Our mission is to create a community of people who have made helping others a core part of their lives, and who use evidence and scientific reasoning to figure out how to do so as effectively as possible. We work on creating a supportive and welcoming community in Singapore and the region to enable individuals and organisations to make that possible.

Overview

The Southeast Asia Farm Animal Fellowship (SEAFAWF) is a project under Effective Altruism Singapore. The project’s aim is to build up a community and network of farmed animal advocates in the region. Through our programmes, we seek to find and empower motivated individuals to engage in a career that can create a more sustainable and humane food system in Southeast Asia, particularly in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore.

The role

Your role is to help build up a community and network of farmed animal advocates in Vietnam through the Southeast Asia Farm Animal Welfare Fellowship programme. As our country manager, you will work closely with the programme directors in establishing a local network. You will be integral in developing a stronger community of farmed animal advocates who are highly motivated individuals interested in addressing the issues surrounding industrial animal agriculture. Through this programme, you will support individuals who are seeking a career to be part of creating a more sustainable and humane food system in Southeast Asia.

Responsibilities

As the country manager, you will be responsible for implementing the fellowship programme successfully in Vietnam. This will include developing and adapting the fellowship to be more locally relevant and working with other experienced advocates in building partnerships and identifying opportunities.

  6. Communicate regularly with the fellows to share updates and announcements.
  7. Network with other organisations and serve as the team’s Vietnam point of contact, to develop more collaborative relationships within the movement in Vietnam.
  8. Provide 1-1 support with the fellows of the programme in their career goals, during and after the fellowship.

Stakeholders that you would be interacting and coordinating with in this role includes:

  • Fellows - engage extensively with the fellows who are a part of the fellowship.
  • Organisations (local/international) - connect with animal advocacy groups working with Vietnam.
  • Universities - explore ways to engage with educational institutions for potential recruitment of fellows.
