I. Background

The Centre for Supporting Green Development (GreenHub) is a Vietnamese, civil society organization under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) with oversight by the Ministry of Science & Technology, and with an CSO Registration Number A-1555. GreenHub’s Vision is the green development of Vietnam, and its mission is to connect communities and resources to embrace green lifestyle practices, sustainable production and nature conservation.

GreenHub is one of consortium partners with ChemonicsInternationalfor the project the USAID-funded Vietnam Action Against Plastic Pollution (VAAPP) activity. This activity aims to reduce ocean plastic pollution at its source in Vietnam through strategic approaches such as promoting the creation and implementation of data-driven policies, enhancing knowledge sharing and learning across stakeholders, promoting appropriately scaled technology and solutions, and providing technical expertise and building capacity of local governments and communities to manage waste at its source and prevent plastic pollution reaching our oceans. 

We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference for environmental protection and reducing plastic pollution.

II. Job Description:

2.1. Sub-Project  under Vietnam Action Against Plastic Pollution (VAAPP) (90%)

Supports the project manager in providing leadership of the Sub-project;s management and technical implementation and ensures successful achievement of results as defined in sub-awards.

Project Implementation, Coordination and Administration

  • Be accountable for the day-to-day management and delivery of project activities
  • Ensure that the project delivers its activities on time and within budget in accordance with the workplan and budget
  • Ensure cooperation agreements with provincial/city and local partners are in place
  • Coordinate project activities with project partners including ministry, provincial, city and local government agencies, business stakeholders/partners, local communities, and project consultants
  • Coordinate IUCN’s project activities with project activities being implemented by projeect partners
  • Supervision and performance management of Project Coordinator and Field Officers
  • Hiring and supervision of project consultants
  • Ensuring project activities comply with USAID contractual requirements regarding procurement, social and environmental impacts, fraud and ethics standards, etc.

Project planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting

  • Prepare monthly activity progress reports
  • Prepare the bi-annual and annual donor reports
  • Assist the project manager to develop the Annual Workplan and update the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Plan
  • Ensure participation of project partners in the development of the Annual Workplan and MELP
  • Ensure that MELP activities including data gathering, surveys, learning workshops, etc. are carried out as planned

Communications and knowledge management

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality knowledge products
  • Work with Communications Officer to ensure that all project activities and knowledge products follow the project branding strategy and marketing plan
  • Work with the Communications Officer to produce regular communications materials from project activities such as web stories, briefs, etc.

Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders

  • Collaborate with project partners for support, capacity building and institutional development
  • Seek opportunities and build good relationships with the network by project including core project partners, government partners, businesses, youth groups at different levels
  • Representative of GreenHub as network member (Plastsic and Health Action Partnership)

2.2. Others (10%)

  • Participate and develop Marine Debris and Plastic Pollution of GreenHub
  • Develop new project under the Programme

III. Request

1.      Technical skills needed:

  • Have at least a Bachelor's degree in science, environment, society, education or related fields, preferably a Master degree in science, environment, society, education or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in the environment, development or related work
  • A deep passion for environment sustainability and development.

2.      Personal Qualities Needed

  • Strong facilitation, communication and partnership skills
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Enthusiastic, honest and trustworthy
  • Ability to prioritize with minimal supervision and work independently as well as function as a member of a team
  • Ability to work in an adaptive and flexible way
  • Good social media skills
  • Good reading/writing skills in English and Vietnamese
  • Good computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
