Project Assistant for Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VNFU) - Forest and Farm Facility (FFF)

1.      About our project

FFF is a partnership among FAO, IIED, IUCN and AgriCord. Its Steering Committee includes members affiliated with forest producers, community forestry, indigenous peoples’organizations,the international research community, business development service provider organizations, the private sector, government and donors.

General goal of Phase II: Forest and Farm Producer Organisations (FFPOs) including women, youth and Indigenous Peoples are the primary agents of change for climate resilient landscapes and improved livelihoods.

The second phase of the FFF is being implemented from 2018 to 2025. Vietnam is one of 11 countries selected to participate in the Program and Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VNFU) is the main partner to implement the program.

2.      The position

VNFU-FFF Viet Nam is seeking for the project assistant to fill the vacant at office based in Hanoi. The post-holder will assist VNFU-FFF project management board and support Forest and Farm Producer Organisations (FFPOs) are the primary agents of change for ecosystem-based adaptation, climate resilient landscapes and improved livelihoods.

3.      Detail of job description: The project assistant will be expected to undertake the following activities:

  • Assist the development of in-country programme framework and annual work plans with the direct FFF partners in consultation with the FFF management team;
  • Assist to plan and conduct exchange visits for experience and knowledge sharing among producer associations in- and outside the county;
  • Prepare periodic monthly and annual reports to the FFF management team and national stakeholders on implementation progress, monitoring and learning experience;
  • Assist to identify potential implementation partners and draft in-country Letter of Agreements (LoAs) and follow upon implementation and monitoring, using the FFF-LoA package based on FAO standards;
  • Assist to facilitate basic FFF tools to partner FFPOs, such as the FFPO self-assessment tool, proposal writing workshops, risk management, etc.
  • Participate in national, regional and global FFF learning events and other policy platforms relevant to FFF implementation;
  • Assist to ensure that the FFF programme is implemented by partners is in line with FAO regulations and standards.
  • Assist to implement of Small grants
  • Enhance the development and implementation of the Communication strategy
  • Support the Monitoring and Learning in the country

4.      Qualifications:

  • Male with University degree on agriculture or forestry/ natural resource management/ economics, politics/ or other fields relevant to FFF
  • Have experience in Project Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation Experiences in working with participatory approaches, multi-stakeholder platforms, forest and farm producer organizations and in the northern parts of Vietnam are assets.
  • Good oral and written Vietnamese and English skills.
  • Ability to work in a team work with VNFU at different level and collaboration agencies/ organizations
  • Willing to work with women and men in rural areas and remote areas, including with ethnic minorities
  • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability and initiative;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
