The Regional Representative for Asia is a critical leadership position at PSI. This individual will support country leadership and mentor future leaders. A key focus of the role will be business development, tapping into existing networks and building new relationships for the future sustainability of the market and Asia operations.
PSI seeks a Regional Representative that will drive regional strategy aligned to the PSI global strategy across a portfolio of PSI countries and lead the transition of the Asia markets, leveraging multiple business models and existing capabilities. The Regional Representative guides country level strategic planning and strategy execution, operational management, capacity building, and sustainability through and with country level leadership leveraging a thought partnership approach. This role brings key insights to the Strategy and Insights (S&I) team on strategy execution of the PSI global strategy to inform future strategy iteration and development. In conjunction with the Department Vice President and Head of Program Management, support PSI Country Representatives to ensure that all countries within the assigned portfolio meet performance expectations and deliver on operational excellence (OpEx) objectives, including financial, human resources, and compliance. The Regional Representative ensures the quality and integrity of PSI's operations, while giving country representatives maximum sensible discretion and authority. This role supervises Country Representatives and provides matrix oversight over Program Management Team support.
Your contributions
- New Business Development for Asia by building, maintaining, and/or strengthening donor relations, identifying new opportunities, supporting funding opportunities through creative/innovative approaches, track and report donor priorities, and support proposal development to expand business in the assigned region/portfolio of PSI countries. This includes traditional donors as well as non-traditional donors. 20% of the Time
- Drive regional strategy by translating global strategy (as set with and by the Strategy and Insights team, Social Business Unit, and technical teams) to market, operationalize, inform, and support strategy refinement. Contribute to the wider PSI strategy and strategic and operational planning processes. Work hand-in-hand with Country Representatives to set and monitor country strategy and objectives to ensure alignment to the overall PSI global strategy.25% of the Time
- Monitor performance and hold countries accountable for meeting programmatic and financial objectives throughout the year. Ensure key, flagship project bilateral and regional initiatives including achievements of program deliverables, targets, and spending are achieved. 20% of the Time
- Build a new generation of global health leaders by managing and coaching Country Representatives directly and indirectly to project management and global services support staff and independent network member leadership. Partner with Human Resources (HR) to conduct strategic workforce planning, identify and pipeline talent for country leadership, and ensure diverse, innovative, and high-performing teams. Work with HR, legal, and security to manage duty of care for staff, and any HR related issues or cases. 20% of the Time
- Ensure operational excellence (OpEx) by working with the Program Management Team (field- and DC-based) and technical leads to maintain OpEx against compliance, technical leadership, and assisting with overall programmatic oversight and management responsibility 15% of the Time

What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field
- Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field (e.g., MBA, MPA, MPH) preferred
- At least 15 years of related experience
- At least 7 years of supervisory experience
- Deep understanding of the full award life cycle management (start-up to close-out) and supporting country operations in a donor funded environment, preferably in the fields of global health or communications.
- Significant field based leadership experience, demonstrated by previous country leadership experience in a least one country. Multiple country experience preferred.
- Significant demonstrated fundraising experience. Track record of successfully leading or contributing to successful fundraising, proposal development/submission, or business development initiative.
- Significant demonstrated experience in government and traditional and non-traditional relations and collaboration in the region.
- Familiarity with relevant regional donors, for example: Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia, World Bank, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office UK, United States Government (USAID, CDC, etc.), United Nations, impact investors, and other non-traditional partners.
- Expertise in key, technical, health areas relevant to the region. Strong technical capability in at least two or more of the PSI’s core operational areas including: health security, health emergency response, social business/entrepreneurship/commercial, social marketing, SBCC, private sector, public health, digital health.-Significant demonstrated leadership and passion for building technical, management and leadership capacity.
- Track record of introducing innovative ideas and being proactive in proposing new technologies.
- Experience in working or leading a team remotely.
- Strong understanding of the changing development landscape.
- Experience working across Asia preferred.
- Fluency in English with excellent writing skills.
