Expert – Sustainable Tourism

Swisscontact is tendering for a Sustainable Tourism project in Vietnam, we are looking for an:

Expert in Sustainable Tourism
Employment start: March 2023 (negotiable)
Contract duration: 2 years with option of renewal
Place of work: Hanoi, Vietnam
The position is subject to project award

Overall

The Sustainable tourism expert will be responsible to promote innovative concepts for businesses and destinations to strengthen sustainability including the introduction of sustainability standards.

Tasks

• Supporting destinations and tourism-related businesses in improving their compliance with sustainable standards. Providing technical expertise for assessing and designing/implementing technical interventions.
• Setting up a competitive process in selecting businesses, destinations, or BSOs to test innovative ideas for concrete sustainable tourism models.
• Providing technical assistance for product design, development and /or marketing and communication
• Leveraging experiences and innovative solutions for sustainable tourism from other national and international projects by assessing the relevant projects and building partnership and /or synergies and collaboration
• Ensure a strong, smooth working partnership and collaboration between the Vietnamese and the Swiss/international expertise
• As member of the management team, contributing to the overall strategic choices of the project
• In charge of programming, implementing and in monitoring progress
• Ensuring budget programming and follow-up of the component
• Ensuring timely coordination, delivery, monitoring and reporting of the project activities

Requirements

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Tourism Studies, Social Sciences, Educational Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, or any other relevant field
• Fluent in Vietnamese, excellent command of written and spoken English
• Full computer literacy
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the tourism sector
• Minimum 5 years in sustainable tourism and use of sustainable standards
• Minimum 5 years in management, programming, monitoring projects, preferably multi/bilateral projects
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an international environment, and in coordinating national and international experts
• Minimum 5 years of experience in tourism product development and in destination marketing and communication
• Experience in implementing award and/or competitive procedures with public and private actors
• Experience with public and private actors in skills development in the tourism sector is an advantage
