Position Description

CNCF Senior Grant Writer

Role Description:

The role requires an experienced grant writer and communicator with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for humanitarian aid and the international development sector and solid knowledge on how to lead successful grants and manage donor relations in this context.

Key Strategic Objective Alignment

Sustainable funding to operate CNCF core projects and programmes, developmental needs, and ability to respond to emergency and crisis situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Director of Partnerships to set quarterly, annual, and longer-term grant related funding objectives and targets in support of CNCF’s overall strategic plan.
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of CNCF’s comprehensive projects and programmes in Mongolia and Vietnam.
  • Donor Mapping: Identify foundations, government agencies, corporations and other philanthropic local and global funding opportunities based upon an understanding of CNCF’s work and future development needs. This work entails identifying (i) eligibility requirements for grant seekers to ensure CNCF meets these criteria, (ii) grant opportunities that are aligned with CNCFs work, (iii) grant cycles and times for submissions, and (iv) grant managers and leads that can provide critical intel on grant themes and eligibility requirements.
  • Tracking Database: Maintaining a grant tracking database to house the above work.
  • Grant Submissions: Lead development and timely submission of CNCF’s grant applications in consultation with other CNCF staff members.
  • Donor Relations and Reporting: Maintain ongoing relations and reporting to donors and grant managers. This includes scheduling regular meetings, developing special donor appreciation events and reporting against grant initiatives. Responsibilities would also include working with other CNCF staff members to develop brochures and annual reports that target donors.
  • Work collaboratively as part of CNCF’s development team to advance priority programmes/initiatives and to help position and communicate CNCF’s work as an international advocate of the rights of children.
  • Oversee donor CRM tracking software with assistance from Partnership Coordinator and CNCF Database Administrator to ensure status of all grant cycles are recorded and monitored correctly.
  • Work with the Database Administrator to develop reports utilising CNCF’s fundraising CRM software.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors and/or Master’s degree in areas directly related to International Development, Writing, Education, Administration, Communication, English, Communications, Foundation, Business, Foundations, Editing
  • At least 4 years’ experience in the charitable/not for profit grant writing sector
  • Proven experience in identifying and developing opportunities for an organisation to pursue a broad range of funding sources
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders with competing agendas in a service delivery environment
  • Proven ability to manage grant cycles to agreed budget, deadlines, and outcomes
  • Experience in researching and analysing projects or programme opportunities and to present findings in written or verbal format
  • Comprehensive experience reviewing and interpreting detailed donor proposal guidelines and regulations
  • Excellent MS Office skills, specifically PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Knowledge and experience of information management, data inputting or use of a CRM will be well regarded.
