About MCD

Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) is a Vietnamese non-state scientific and technological organization and was established in 2003, working in the field of promoting effective management of coastal & marine natural resources and environment, and improving the development of coastal communities, towards sustainable development in the coastal areas.

MCD has had work experience in over ten coastal provinces, mobilized resources for and implemented nearly 80 projects at different scales, cooperated with domestic and international agencies, organizations and enterprises. MCD projects integrate the two key themes of (1) Coastal and marine natural resource management and environment protection; and (2) Sustainable livelihoods and coastal community development. MCD also promotes the integration of cross-cutting issues such as gender equality, marine plastic waste reduction, climate change adaptation, and engagement of youth and communities.

In order to strengthen its workforce, meet human resources demand for new projects and the need to improve the quality of professional activities and organizational development, MCD opens recruitment for a Project Officer – Aquatic Resource Management.

Job description

  1. Planning, implementing, monitoring, supervising and reporting activities, including: (i) co-management in aquatic resources protection; (ii) marine ecosystem conservation at the request of projects that serve MCD’s mission.
  2. Coordinating technical expertise, capacity building, practice initiatives and improve the implementation of policies related to the management and protection of sustainable aquatic resources;
  3. Participating in conducting technical studies and assessments, communication activities and documenting projects according to related requirements and topics (co-management in aquatic resources protection, marine ecosystem conservation, etc.) and organizational communications;
  4. Organizing the implementation of project work in localities, coordinate and cooperate with relevant partners;
  5. Maintaining and implement the project management system in MCD to ensure compliance and increase the efficiency of planning, monitoring and reporting projects;
  6. Promoting the participation and cooperation of stakeholders including government, fishing communities, businesses, research institutions and networks of cooperation, contributing to organizational and program development;
  7. Performing other duties as required by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • University graduate (postgraduate is an advantage) in one of the relevant fields / majors and fields such as: oceanography, marine biology; resource management, environmental resources; fishery; environmental economics, and sustainable development.
  • Having at least 5 years of work experience in the projects or organizations related to the above fields;
  • Interested and knowledgeable in marine ecosystem conservation and aquatic resource management, policies and practices including co-management in aquatic resources protection; marine ecosystem conservation, adaptation to climate change in coastal areas;
  • Ability to use English fluently in communication and working (speaking and writing skills);
  • Experience and skills to coordinate project management;
  • Ability to research, analysis, synthesizing and reporting skills
  • Ability for good communications and presentation by topic;
  • Eager for learning and sharing, working well in a team, being able to go on domestic and overseas business trips.

Salary and benefits: The selected candidate will receive competitive salary and benefits corresponding to their qualifications, competencies and experience.

Duration: Probationary period of one (1) month. If the probation is successful, an official labour contract will be offered with the initial contract term of 12 months, subject to extension depending on the personal capacity and the needs of the organization.
