TITLE: Education Program Associate
UNIT: Vietnam country office
LOCATION: Hanoi, Vietnam
REPORTS TO: Education Specialist
SUPERVISES: N/A
CONTRACT: 12 months
SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Education Program Associate will assist the Country Representative, Deputy Country Representative and Education Specialist in developing, managing and evaluating projects and programs within The Asia Foundation’s office in Vietnam.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
The education program associate reports to the Education Specialist.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in development, planning and managing of educational-related projects.
- Experience working in Gender focused projects is considered as an asset.
- Ability to manage projects and budgets.
Education:
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field.
Other:
- Keen understanding of development and education issues in Vietnam.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Vietnamese.
- Strong drafting abilities in both English and Vietnamese.
- Good IT skills
- Proactive and independent work style essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Professional organizational abilities.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Under the Education Specialist, the Education Program Associate will provide support for program development and implementation in line with the policies and procedures of The Asia Foundation worldwide.
Program Development and Administration
- Assist in needs assessments, exploration of program opportunities, and identification of potential grantee organizations.
- Develop programs in consultation with grantee organizations, as directed by the Education Specialist.
- Draft Letters of Agreement (L/As), Letters of Contract (L/Cs), Terms of Reference, Program Budget and Payment Schedules, and internal narrative reports.
- Observe and monitor program activities, assist grantees with program management and administration, and maintain documentation of grant activities.
- Review grantee reports and critically evaluate program outcomes.
- Help to prepare annual program budget, program highlights, and other reports to The Asia Foundation’s home office.
- Assist the Education Spcialist with the management of program budgets, including review of online reports.
- Understand and implement requirements placed on The Asia Foundation by outside donors.
- Review incoming grant and contract opportunities, make recommendations to the Education Specialist and Country Representative, and draft response letters.
- Develop program schedules for consultants, The Asia Foundationvisitors, and grantee travel.
- Draft reports to donors.
- Provide translation and interpretation as needed.
External Relations
- Develop and maintain contacts with current and prospective grantees, consultants and specialists contracted by The Asia Foundation.
- Assist in drafting proposals for donors using established The Asia Foundationguidelines.
- Prepare reports for donors as required.
Other
- Perform other program and administrative tasks as directed by the Education Specialist or Country Representative.
The occupant of this position will sign a one-year contract with The Asia Foundation with possible renewal based on his/her performance.
