NGO Resource Centre Newsletter October 1 – 15 2008
Dear MEMBERS and FRIENDS,
Welcome to the NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for October 1 – 15, 2008.
In news this week, the Government of Vietnam is currently in the process of implementing various reforms and changes to the legal system of Vietnam, which is intended to complement and facilitate development in other sectors. Two interlinked resolutions on legal matters have been launched, which form the key basis for the legal reform: Resolution 48 (Strategy for Development and Improvement of the Vietnam Legal System up to 2010 and Vision up to 2020) and Resolution 49 (Judicial Reform Strategy).
As part of the process, the Annual Legal Partnership Forum, entitled 'New Directions for Partnerships in Legal and Judicial reform', was held on September 30 in Hanoi to enable international development partners in Vietnam to provide intput and share experience with the Government of Vietnam regarding legal matters. The NGO RC participated in the forum,
which included discussions about Resolutions 48 and 49, the connection between justice sector development and its integration into the SEDP 2011-2020, and improving citizens' access to justice.
