In Vietnam, the prevalence of diabetes is estimated to be between 6%-7%, meaning around seven million individuals are living with the disease.
This data was emphasized by experts during the tenth Hanoi Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolic Syndrome Conference held in Hanoi last weekend.
Associate Professor Dr. Do Trung Quan, president of the Hanoi Association of Endocrinology and Diabetes, noted that nearly two million of those affected remain undiagnosed, leaving them without timely treatment.
He also highlighted the concerning trend of diabetes affecting increasingly younger individuals, with some cases occurring in children as young as 14 or 15 years old. (Suc Khoe Doi Song, Lao Dong, bvquan5.medinet.gov.vn)
