The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) is an independent Federal Government agency created by the U.S. Congress in 2000 and funded annually by the U.S. Government through 2018. The mission of VEF is to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the United States and Vietnam by focusing on educational exchanges in the sciences (natural, physical, and environmental), engineering, mathematics, medicine, and technology (including information technology). Sweden has carried out development cooperation with Vietnam for 40 years. Project "Environmental remediation of dioxin contaminated hotspots in Vietnam" is seeking for 09 field sampling specialists and 01 Team leader. Viet Nam has experienced the worst dioxin pollution in the World. Large quantity of herbicides, which was contaminated with dioxin, was used in the part of the armed conflict over the period of 1961-1971. The soil dioxin concentration in sprayed areas has declined to background level; however, a few sites at the airbases where the pesticides were stored and/or handled are still highly contaminated. To date, three sites used as the military base, namely Bien Hoa Airbase, Da Nang Airbase and Phu Cat Airbase, have identified dioxin ‘hotspots’ which contamination level exceeds national dioxin limits.
PATH’s work in tuberculosis (TB) control supports the Stop TB Partnership goal of eliminating TB as a public health threat by 2050 through expanding Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course, addressing the threat of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), improving care for people with tuberculosis and HIV, involving the private sector in TB control, and strengthening advocacy, communication, and social mobilization (ACSM) capacity at international and national levels.
