MAG is an international humanitarian non-governmental organization clearing remnants of conflicts in current and former conflict zones. Present in Vietnam since 1999, MAG has been working to maximize community safety and help those most-at-risk reduce their chance of being in a UXO accident.
We are seeking a strong qualified Geographic Information System Officer (GIS), who is responsible for using GIS technology to produce, format and analyse technical data and maps for use by MAG Vietnam.

Key requirements for the position include:
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- University or college degree. Major in GIS or IT is an advantage
- High proficiency with ArcGIS applications and software.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate multiple staff and activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A thorough understanding of Database systems.
- At least 2 years experience working in a similar role.
- Fluency in English is an advantage
Areas of responsibility
- Produce Operational Maps in the Organization’s formats and standards
- Develop and maintain the GIS data layers to produce images and polygon maps to support MAG Vietnam’s prioritization, planning, clearance and reporting activities
- Produce Respond to requests in a timely manner producing GIS data in the format required
- Organize and arrange GIS data systems in the logical and structured manner for efficient storing and retrieval of GIS data
- To further develop the ways in which GIS technology can add value, improve and support operations and programme reporting
- Convert GIS data into usable formats for inclusion in reports, proposals, planning documents and presentations
- Ensure that up-to-date data is readily available for Operational teams
- Day to day work with the teams in updating, editing, and synchronizing the mapping data onto the MAG Vietnam OMIS.
- Coordinate with other members in the team to produce the maps for Handover Certification and provide the GIS information for data entry reporting to the IMSMA system.
- Maintain mapping data to ensure the consistency between MAG Vietnam and provincial database units’ standards
- Applicable skills in GIS and IM, with a high level of computer proficiency
