The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The centre generates science-based knowledge about the complex role that trees play in agricultural landscapes and uses its research to ensure that policies and practices benefit the poor and the environment. ICRAF Vietnam is seeking a senior scientist who will join ICRAF technical team in Bac Kan province for 2.5 months, starting from October, 15 and last in December, 31. The scientist
will be in charge for the following tasks:
- Develop RUPES (Rewarding for Environmental Services) mechanism with Leo Keo village, Quang Khe commune, Ba Be district, Bac Kan.

The Social Promotion of the Culture Foundation (FPSC) is a private, non-profit organisation, which since 1987 has worked to support human development and the promotion of culture. Through its programmes and projects FPSC tries to promote human, social and economic development that recognises and strengthens the dignity of the people it works with and respectful of the cultural identity of the peoples and social groups it supports. Its philosophy is expressed through its operational model of a “small, agile and independent organization”, which allows FPSC to strengthen and capitalize on its realized work and to respond to the future challenges of raising the capacity of management, optimizing the use of resources and maintaining cost economy.

1. BACKGROUND

They do so by providing financing to help businesses employ more people and supply essential services, by mobilizing capital from others, and by delivering advisory services to ensure sustainable development.
In the Mekong region covering Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam, our advisory services are delivered in partnership with the European Union, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and Switzerland.

2. OBJECTIVES/ PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT

Officially providing ODA to Vietnam since 2007, Ireland has made active contributions to Vietnam’s development progress. The Country Sponsoring Policies of Irish Aid (IA) in Vietnam for 2007-2010 has the overall objective of “enhancing and facilitating poverty reduction, equality and reduction of vulnerability in Vietnam”. To realize the objective, Ireland has paid attention not only to provide direct supports to Poverty Reduction Programs in Vietnam, but also to residential areas of ethnic minorities. Currently, IA is among the key financial sponsors for P135 with the total commitment for 4 years (2007- 20019) of 30 million Euros.
