Created in 2005, Passerelles numériques (PN) is a non-profit organization with the mission to enable the largest number of young people in precarious situations to access training leading to a qualified job in Information Technology sector. The association operates in Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam. It is currently training 450 students and will be training 750 in 3 years. Passerelles numériques has 80 employees in different countries and a small office in France. In Vietnam, Passerelles numériques is settled in the city of Da Nang. It started in 2010 and is currently training 120 students. Its program is run in partnership mainly with the University of Da Nang, Software Development Center (SDC), East Meets West and Institute Européen de Coopération et Dévelopement (IECD).

The Centre for Community Socio-Economic and environmental Development (CSEED) is a Vietnamese NGO established in January 2006 under the decision of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA). Its mission is to support sustainable livelihoods and environment development in targeted vulnerable and marginalized communities.

UNDP is seeking a Senior Researcher (international or national) working with a team leader and a national field researcher to conduct a gender analysis for the UN-REDD Programme. The gender analysis will include a review of the outcomes of Phase 1 from a gender perspective, and identify gender issues in land/forest management and gender power dynamics in social, economic and political spheres that might reinforce and/or result in unequal status, opportunities, benefits and risks faced by women and men in Lam Dong Province.

“Southeast Asia has lost half their mangroves over the past 30 years, primarily as a result of clearing for shrimp ponds. This has serious consequences: mangroves protect against tidal waves and storm surges; they are vital fish nursery-grounds, provide timber, honey, and other products; and raise land level by trapping sediment. They also sequester carbon faster than any other forest type. Healthy mangroves thus make important contributions to both climate change adaptation and mitigation and form the basis of coastal ecosystem-based adaptation (EBA). Ngoc Hien covers 70,000 ha mangroves that’s largely intact forests. These mangroves are in problem of conversion. For example, of the 36,266 ha of intact mangroves in 2004, 10,250 ha (26%) were converted to shrimp ponds by 2009.
