The Program
Justice Initiatives Facilitation Fund (JIFF) is one component of The Justice Partnership Programme (JPP) funded by of the European Commission (EC), Sweden, and Denmark to support justice sector reforms in Vietnam. The AusAID-funded project ‘Sowing the Seeds of Change: Community-based Climate Change Mitigation through Sustainable Rice Production’ (SRI) supports small-holder rice producers to improve rice production systems which are more resilient, emit fewer harmful greenhouse gases and remain profitable for farmers. This project will support and build the capacity of small holder rice producers and provincial agencies to meet these requirements by applying the System of Rice Intensification.
The Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) has been implementing the project titled “Supporting Thai ethnic minority communities to adapt to changes from urbanisation” in two villages, Chieng Chung and Chieng Khoang villages, Tuan Giao town, Tuan Giao district, Dien Bien province. The project has received funding from Caritas Australia and is co-implemented by SRD and the Tuan Giao District Project Management Board. The main aim of the project is to improve living conditions and to strengthen social capacity for ethnic minority groups. Project Document for “Environmental Remediation of Dioxin Contaminated Hotspots in Viet Nam” was signed on 28 June 2010 by and between Minister of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Global Environment Facilities (GEF) is funding agency of this project. The project will be implemented in 4 years, from 2010 to 2013.
The Objective of the project is “to minimise disruption of ecosystems and health risks for people from environmental releases of TCDD contaminated hotspots”. This will contribute to the broader Goal, which is “to overcome the consequences of toxic chemicals used in the war in Viet Nam”.
