[Ngo-lwg] Reminder of LWG meeting on Friday 12 Sept 2014 at VVAF

Dear LWG members,
MAG and IC- VVAF would like to invite all of you to attend the next LWG
quarterly meeting from13:30 to 15:00 Friday,12 September 2014 at VVAF
office at 4^th floor, 58 Tran Nhan Tong st., Hanoi.
In review of the developments up-to-date since the last meeting, we’d
like to suggest the meeting will discuss the followings:
-The newly approved Vietnam National Mine Action Standards (VNMAS)
-An initiative of GICHD exploring the development of policies and
practices globally in response to the presence of Explosive Remnants of
War (MORE)
-Members update
-Other business
Wewill welcome the participation of GICHD delegation including Guy
Rhodes- Director of Operations and his colleagues from Ammunition
Technical Operations, Samuel Paulina & David Gertiser. Tentatively, we
expect a representative of MoD/504 Office to the meeting.
The draft agenda of the meeting is attached for your information. Pls.

1.VNMAS was approved by Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam in
April 2014, with 10 standards (see list of standards below).Thanks to
the support from Faiz Paktian-GICHD, the English translation version of

2.MORE project is an initiative of GICHD to explore the development of
policy and practice in response to the presence of ERW in countries by
pre 1945s conflicts to inform the decision makers and promote changes in
the way countries affected by more recent wars to develop manageable
national mechanism through realistic national plans and timeframes in
response to ERW problems. In its 1^st phase, the MORE Project research
into post-conflict ERW policy development and evolution in South East
Asia and Europe has surveyed 15 countries, including Vietnam. It is
expected that interim results of the in-depth research in six countries
(Belgium, Cambodia, Germany, Lao PDR, United Kingdom, and Vietnam)
through case studies will be shared at the LWG meeting (Pls. see below
link for more information).
