This incident is one example of local residents protecting themselves,
taking matters into their own hands, and stopping scrap metal collectors
from what could have been a very dangerous outcome. Luckily all turned out
well.

But the response of local residents and the village chief illustrates the
importance of risk education, teaching children and adults to take
responsibility for their own safety and instilling in them confidence to
intervene when they encounter a dangerous situation.

RENEW-NPA teams today safely destroyed a U.S. 750-pound bomb found in a
rice paddy in Ha Tay Village of Trieu An Commune, about one km from Cua
Viet port, formerly a logistics and support base for U.S. Marine units

bom nặng 340 kg được tìm thấy ở ruộng lúa thôn Hà Tây, xã Triệu An, cách
khoảng 1 km với Cảng Cửa Việt, trước đây từng là căn cứ hỗ trợ và hậu cần
cho các đơn vị lính thủy đánh bộ Mỹ dọc theo khu vực phi quân sự cũ.
