Vietnam Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate in corbalaration with FES and Climate Change Working Group members to organise the annual workshop on Climate Finance, serves as a vital forum for diverse stakeholders to discuss Vietnam’s climate action priorities, explore resource opportunities, and align with COP objectives of the year. It also serves as a trusted and effective platform for CSOs/NGOs to engage with local government representatives, providing updates on Vietnam's climate commitments and showcasing impactful projects that contribute to the nation's climate goals. This is regular meeting of Climate Change Working Group. The details are as below:

Pre-COP28 workshop in October, 2023

 

 

The overall objective of the national workshop is to promote a comprehensive understanding of COP28, the Global Stocktake concept, its relevance, application and the urgent necessity for its implementation in Viet Nam. The workshop is geared towards fortifying efforts against climate change by disseminating knowledge about Global Stocktake, discussing emergent innovative emission reduction initiatives, and emphasizing the incorporation of gender factors into environmental efforts. It aims to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences, thereby encouraging collaborative engagement and action towards more effective global climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.

Climate Change Working Group's Internal Training course on “Develop a plan for local adaptation activities” in August, 2023

 

This is an internal trraining course of climate change Working Group on “Develop a plan for local adaptation activities”

• Objective: Identify problems in building livelihood models of local people, learn from best practice solutions, Talk about how to replicate existing solutions as well as new livelihood solutions.

• Timeline:

From 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on August 3, 2023.

and from 9:00 am to 11:45 am on 4/8/2023

• Format: Offline at the Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change

• Participant: about 20 delegates

Climate Change Working Group meeting with International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Green Building project in Vietnam April, 2023

 

CCWG meeting with International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Green Building project in Vietnam.

International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group (WBG), to the Green Building project in Vietnam. The project started in 2013 with the goal of reducing the impact of climate change in the construction field. IFC wishes to enhance the resilience of the construction sector and introduce the Building Resilience Index. Therefore, IFC will have a meeting with CCWG coordinator team to discuss the following subjects: 

•Introduction Building Resilience Index (BRI) 

Climate Change Working Group Position Paper for the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) Supporting the implementation of the National Climate Change Strategy until 2050

The Arab Republic of Egypt hosted the 27th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh in November 2022. COP27 goals and vision are for inclusive, rules-based, and ambitious, substantive outcomes, commensurate with the challenge based on science and guided by principles building on agreements, decisions, pledges, and commitments, from RIO 1992 to Glasgow 2021. We seek to accelerate global climate action through emissions reduction, scaled-up adaptation efforts, and enhanced flows of appropriate finance. We recognize that 'just transition' remains a priority for developing countries worldwide.

Pre-COP 27 workshop: Implementation Roadmap to Climate Commitments

 

Objectives

The overall objective of the international conference is: “To provide a forum for key stakeholders from CSOs and interested partners to jointly discuss and identify priority targets and seek opportunities to promote resources for climate change response in Viet Nam which in line with COP27 objectives”.

 

Specific objectives: 

• Create a forum for CSOs to update information about implementation pathway of climate change commitments at COP26 and participation in COP27.

• CSOs have the opportunity to share ongoing and upcoming projects to contribute to the achievement of Vietnam's climate goals.

Climate Change Mid year workshop "A Just and Inclusive Transition towards 2050" in June, 2022

 

CCWG with the support from Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Viet Nam is organizing

workshop A Just and Inclusive Transition towards 2050 to discuss the key

challenges and opportunities to enhance inclusion and participation of the community

in the upcoming policies progress.

 

2. Objective of the workshop

The overall objective of the workshop is:

‘To provide a forum for key stakeholders from the Government of Viet Nam, CSOs,

academia, private sector and media to jointly discuss and identify the key challenges

 

and opportunities as well as the recommendations to Vietnam to ensure gender

equality, social inclusion, participation, and community resilience during the transition

process.’
