Experts Suggest Solutions for Vietnam to Tackle Electronic Waste Problem

Experts have made some suggestions for Vietnam to solve the growing problem of electronic waste, local media reported.

Deputy Director of the Center of Science-Technology and Environment Nguyen Duc Quang proposed encouraging the establishment of private collection systems and developing standardized dismantling and sorting facilities for electronic waste.

Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Dung from the Vietnam Waste Recycling Association recommended Vietnam establish modern, large-scale electronic waste recycling plants capable of recovering precious metals. Additionally, upgrading informal recycling to controlled collection and sorting is essential.

Vietnam Works to Prevent Biodiversity Degradation

Vietnam is recognized as one of the countries with the richest biodiversity in the world with different ecosystems including tropical forests, marine and coastal ecosystems. However, experts from the World Wide Fund for Nature in Vietnam said that Vietnam's biodiversity is degrading.

To reduce biodiversity loss, Vietnamese Government promulgated the National Biodiversity Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, which aims to increase the acreage of protected ecosystems and promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

MegaEdu, iSMART, AI Education to Launch “Google Classroom” in Vietnam

MegaEdu, iSMART, and AI Education, the official representatives of Google for Education in Vietnam, have recently signed a strategic partnership to implement the "Google Classroom" solution that provides both equipment and a support platform for teaching and learning, along with a rich digital learning library.

This smart classroom model is part of the education sector's overall digital transformation program aimed at enhancing teacher capacity and training quality in Ho Chi Minh City. Proposed by the HCMC Department of Education and Training and implemented since 2023, the program is expected to be gradually expanded each year.

Vietnam, Russia Intensify Educational Collaboration

A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son embarked on a visit to Russia on April 15-20 to enhance educational ties between Vietnam and Russia, local media reported.

On April 16, the delegation met with officials from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Both sides discussed finalizing and signing a new agreement on educational collaboration, expanding the activities of the Pushkin Institute in Vietnam, and developing partnerships between Vietnamese and Russian universities. They also agreed to promote cooperation among faculty members and research collaboration between the two countries.
