1. Background The Spanish Red Cross (SRC) has been present in Viet Nam since 2002. Over previous years, SRC and its local partner - the Viet Nam Red Cross (VNRC) have cooperated in several programs, including organizational capacity building, emergency response, disaster preparedness/management, vocational training and micro-credit.
Alive & Thrive (A&T), a multi-year initiative (2009-2013) aimed at improving the nutritional status of infants and young children, is led by the Academy for Educational Development and in Viet Nam is being implemented through a joint partnership with Save the Children, GMMB, the International Food Policy Research Institute & the University of California, Davis. The initiative will contribute significantly to the Government of Viet Nam’s (GoV) priorities and accelerate ongoing efforts to reduce stunting. The initiative will also create synergies with other stakeholders such as the Viet Nam Women’s Union, UN agencies, other international and local non-government organizations and the private for-profit sector.

1. Background: Church World Service (CWS) is an American NGO, which began its work in Vietnam in 1954. Since then, CWS Vietnam has supported Vietnam continuously with projects primarily focusing on improving health services, access to water and sanitation, nutrition for children, education for ethnic minorities and disaster relief.
The Sustainable Health Development Centre (VietHealth) is a Vietnamese NGO working in the field of healthcare and public health with a particular focus on sexual and reproductive health, mother-and-child healthcare, HIV/AIDs awareness and prevention, disability awareness, prevention and rehabilitation, and primary and preventive healthcare.

The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is working since the 1960th in Vietnam. In September and October 2009 the Typhoons Ketsana and Mirinae created extensive destruction. Following an appeal for support by the Vietnam National Red Cross (VNRC), the SRC engaged in relief operations. To support its work in more long term the SRC is opening a country office in Vietnam. In order to achieve their goals, the Swiss Red Cross will need with the upcoming construction of village houses an additional Junior Engineer for the Country Office in Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen Province.
