The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is an intergovernmental organization working primarily on the issue of migration and mobility. As of October 2010, IOM has 127 member states, and is working in over 460 field locations throughout the world. As the only international organization working with the entire spectrum of migrant and mobile populations during all phases of mobility, the International Organization for Migration is well placed to address migration and health issues. Health issues affect all migrants and potentially cut across different policy areas related to migration.

Background The Global Road Safety Partnership is a hosted programme of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). In September 2010, the Global Road Safety Partnership has been nominated as the reference centre for road safety for the IFRC. Both the IFRC and Global Road Safety Partnership are headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland whilst maintaining a Regional office in Bangkok, Thailand. The IFRC also maintains a country office in Hanoi which supports Vietnam Red Cross in implementation of their strategy.

Success in meeting the MDGs will therefore largely depend on the ‘quality’ of governance and the level of effectiveness, efficiency and equity in resource generation, allocation and management.
